ISO-8601 Formatted Date

A machine-processable, ISO 8601 formatted date value (“YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss”) for a JATS date-specific element, whether date be specified as text, an ISO date, a partial date, or as any other date format. If the date given in the content of the element is in a non-Gregorian calendar, this attribute will hold the Gregorian calendar equivalent of that date.


The ISO date format : “YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss” may be used, for example, to add a numeric value, such as “01” to a <month> element with a value of “January”. In addition, the hours, minutes, and seconds may be used to include a timestamp for a date, for example, when a publication date has both an embargo date and an embargo time.
