Vertical Alignment (NISO JATS table model)

Sets the vertical alignment inside a table cell. (This attribute is based on and intended to be converted easily to the XHMTL valign attribute.)

Within a NISO JATS table (based on and designed to be converted easily to the XHTML 1.1 table model), this attribute specifies the vertical position of data within a table cell, for example, flush to the top of the cell.

Used on these Elements:

baselineAll cells in the same row as a cell whose @valign attribute has this value should have their textual data positioned so that the first text line occurs on a baseline common to all cells in the row. This constraint does not apply to subsequent text lines in these cells.
bottomCell data is flush with the bottom of the cell.
middleCell data is centered vertically within the cell.
topCell data is flush with the top of the cell.
Restriction@valign is an optional attribute; there is no default.
