<trans-source> Translated Source (deprecated)
Title of the source (for example, journal, book, conference proceedings) containing
material being cited in a bibliographic reference or product, when the title is translated
into a language other than that in which it was originally published. This element
is deprecated.
Usage/Remarks
Avoid using <trans-source>; instead, repeat the <source> element with different @xml:lang attributes.
Sources in Multiple Languages
There is no longer an element meaning “translated-source” in JATS. Users with sources
in more than one language should tag them all as <source>s, using the attribute @xml:lang to name the language of the source.
The multilingual attributes can be used to mark one source is the “original”
and another as a “translation”, to mark two or more sources as “original”, or to group
same-content sources into language groups. For example, if a book’s title were originally
in French, the <source> element would contain the French title with an @xml:lang attribute (@xml:lang="fr") and a @lang-variant attribute (@lang-variant="original"). A second <source> element could a translated English book title with an @xml:lang attribute (@xml:lang="en") and a @lang-variant attribute to indicate that the English was a translation (@lang-variant="translation").
