<break> Line Break

An explicit line break in the text.

Usage/Remarks

This Tag Set allows more contexts for the <break> element than the other JATS Tag Sets. For example, all three Tag Sets allow breaks inside <title>s and inside table cells (<td>s and <th>s). This Tag Set has more extensive contexts. (See “May be contained in” below.)

Authoring/Best Practice

Usage is discouraged. The intent of this Tag Set is not to capture the “look-and-feel” of a document.
