<journal-title> Journal Title (Full)

Full title of the journal in which the article was published.

Usage/Remarks

In the metadata for an article (inside <front>), the journal title is tagged using the <journal-title> element. In a citation (<mixed-citation>, <element-citation>, and similar) the journal title is tagged as <source>, to indicate that it is the source of the cited journal article.
NLM DTD Historical Note
This element (<journal-title>) was significantly remodeled from previous versions of this Tag Set. The current NISO JATS values are backward compatible with all JATS versions and with last NLM version 3.0, but not with earlier NLM DTD versions. Specifically, in prior versions the <journal-title> element was allowed outside the <journal-title-group> element.
